A message from the Sullivan County Youth Bureau:
The Sullivan County Youth Bureau is seeking applications from youth ages 13 – 21 who reside in Sullivan County to fill an opening on the NYS Governor’s Youth Council. The Governor’s Youth Council provides an effective way to engage youth in state government and creates a platform for their voices to be heard by policymakers. This is a wonderful opportunity for one of our local young people to represent Sullivan County on a statewide level and to offer solutions and policy recommendations for key issues facing youth ̶̶̶̶ including substance use and prevention, mental-health challenges, the COVID-19 pandemic, and creating positive interactions between youth and law enforcement.
Interested youth need to apply online, and their online application submissions must be completed in full to be considered for appointment. The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2022.
For more information and to apply online, please visit https://nysylc.secure-platform.com/a/
Please note that the youth who is selected to represent Sullivan County on the NYS Governor’s Youth Council will need to commit to participate in virtual statewide youth-led networking and training events about government, civic engagement, and positive youth development; attend regional meetings via online platforms at least twice monthly; work on selected policy issues to present to local, regional and state officials; and maintain membership on the NYS Governor’s Youth Council until March 31, 2023.
The Sullivan County Youth Bureau is very excited about this initiative and this opportunity for a local youth! If you have any questions, please contact Lesia Snihura at the Sullivan County Youth Bureau (845) 807-0394.
