Statement from Superintendent Evans re: incident at RJK

Earlier today, a Robert J. Kaiser Middle School student was found in possession of a pellet gun while in school.

The gun was not loaded with any pellets or other projectiles, nor was it used in a threatening manner. It was discovered by another student who promptly reported it to school administration. The school resource officer immediately responded and intercepted the student.

While privacy laws prevent the district from disclosing specific disciplinary measures, the district is cooperating with law enforcement to launch a full investigation into the matter, and to enforce the district’s code of conduct.

“The safety of our students and our staff is always our top priority and we will always act promptly regarding matters of security,” commented MCSD Superintendent of Schools Matthew T. Evans, Ed. D.
