Statement from Superintendent Evans re: heat precautions

Dear Monticello Community:

Please be advised that beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, June 18, at 12 p.m., the district will be taking the following heat advisory precautions:
  • No physical outdoor activities: Students and staff should only be active outdoors for necessary functions (for example, school dismissals).
  • When outside, students and staff should seek and stay in shaded areas when possible.
  • Encourage frequent water breaks and consumption.
  • Close windows and blinds on sun-facing windows.
  • To the greatest extent practicable, allow student and staff breaks and Regents exam administration in air-conditioned areas.
  • Field trips will be adjusted so that students are returning to school by 12 p.m., prior to the onset of the expected mid-day heat.

We appreciate your support and cooperation as we work to keep our students and staff safe and comfortable as we navigate the anticipated heat.
