RJK students celebrate Black History Month with research project

Robert J. Kaiser Middle School students researched influential figures from the Abolitionist/Early 19th Century, Civil Rights/20th Century, and the late 20th Century/early 21st Century time periods in Ms. Santoro’ WIN classes.

The project is part of celebrating Black History Month, learning new information about these individuals, and sharing their new knowledge with their classmates. Students were encouraged to choose someone that they haven’t already researched in the past, so they could discover new information.

Students used multiple sites such as Biography.com, History.com, and Britannica.com to find facts, quotes, and get a deeper knowledge of the person they chose. Some of the figures the students researched were Simone Biles, Stephen Curry, Ruby Bridges, Mohammed Ali, Patrick Mahomes, Neil de Grasse Tyson, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Shaquille O’Neil, and Jackie Robinson.

The students were excited to participate and let us see what they were working on. A big thank you to Ms. Santoro and her WIN classes for sharing your project with all of us.
