Kindergarten Registration
How can I register my child for kindergarten?
Step 1:
Call 845-794-7700, ext. 78905 to make an appointment to register during one of the registration periods. Appointments will be available on school days between March 16-23.
Step 2:
Arrive to your registration appointment, accompanied by your child, with all necessary documentation:
- Child’d birth certificate
- Child’s most recent immunization record and physical
- Proof of residence (electric bill, lease, tax bill, etc.)
- Parent’s photo ID (driver’s license, etc.)
- Custody papers, if applicable
Is my child eligible for kindergarten?
Children who are residents of the Monticello Central School District and who are five years of age on or before Dec. 1, 2020 are eligible to enroll.
What if I live with someone else and don’t have proof of residence?
MCSD requires a notarized affidavit from the person with whom you live. The individual who pays the household bills must state in the affidavit that he or she is providing housing. A utility bill or tax bill with that person’s name must be attached to the notarized affidavit.
Project Excel Registration
Registration for Project Excel will take place from April 1 – April 30. Parents of three and four-year old residents are encouraged to call 845-794-0128, ext. 78905 now to make an appointment to register during the registration period.
What is Project Excel?
Three and four-year old residents of the Monticello Central School District are eligible to register for Project Excel – a Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program that helps provide a strong foundation for learning in our youngest cubs. The program, transportation and meals are all free.
Who is eligible to register?
Children must be three years of age by Dec. 1, 2020 to register for the UPK3 program and children must be four years of age by Dec. 1, 2020 to register for the UPK4 program.
How do I register?
There are a limited number of spots available for the Project Excel Program – 30 spots are available for the UPK3 program and 110 spots are available for the UPK4 program. Spots are assigned via a lottery system.
Interested parents must call the registrar’s office at 845-794-0128, ext. 78905 to make an appointment to register their child for either program during the month of April.
In the first week of May, the families of students who have received a place in Project Excel through the lottery will be notified.
