Emma C. Chase Elementary School students got a special visit from “Officer Phil,” a puppet who is on a mission to teach students about respect, safety and the negative effects of bullying.
According to the Officer Phil website, the Officer Phil, Deputy Phil and Firefighter Phil safety programs were founded in 1975 and travel to schools to teach students important lessons about safety, while encouraging positive behavior like honesty, friendship, being a buddy not a bully, civic responsibility and knowing what to do in an emergency.
“The show provided important lessons with puppets, magic and music,” Ann VanEtten, Chase PR Liaison said. “We thank the Monticello Police Department for providing this valuable program to the Emma C. Chase school.”
