Ms. Moore and VanderMeulen’s class welcome first responders for Thanksgiving Feast

‘Tis the season for giving thanks, so naturally, the students in Ms. Moore and Ms. VanderMeulen’s kindergarten class at the George L. Cooke Elementary School wanted to show their appreciation for some local heroes.

The class held their annual “First Responders Thanksgiving Feast” and invited men and women from local first responder agencies for an afternoon of food, fun and friendship.

Firefighter Wayne VanderMeulen from the Monticello Fire Department, Sullivan County Sherriff’s Department Deputy Roy Rogers (who is also the new Cooke School Resource Officer) and Monticello Police Department Officer Lashawn Moorer joined the class for the Thanksgiving Feast. Officer Moorer’s daughter, Layanni, who is a kindergarten student at Cooke, is seated on his lap.
