On Saturday, Feb. 3, the Monticello Junior and Senior High Jazz Bands attended the 26th Annual Liberty Jazz Festival and rocked the house! Held at Liberty Middle School, the event featured an open clinic with professional musician and trombonist Sam Newsome. After working in a round robin format with each ensemble, the musical groups performed their prepared pieces to a packed audience, ending with a combined collaboration of the Neil Diamond classic, “Sweet Caroline”.
Senior clarinetist Anthony Belgiovene said “Jazz Fest was an amazing experience to be a part of once again. It was my final time playing in this event and it was great to be surrounded by lots of great schools to perform a variety of jazz pieces. I learned a lot from the guest clinician and look forward to coming back in future years to watch.”
