MBK to host free literacy/math summer camps

Monticello’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) program will host free summer camps focused on literacy and math skills development at the Evergreen and Kinnebrook communities in July and August.

MBK sponsored a literacy camp last summer at Evergreen to encourage and support a love of reading as we understand reading is the foundation of all learning. Therefore, when MBK heard about Rutherford’s literacy initiative, we jumped to partner with them. Rutherford engaged in a building wide read of Wonder, which culminated with the presentation of the movie. MBK was happy to provide popcorn and drinks for this event.

With last year’s success, the MBK program is pleased to be able to offer another year of camps.

The dates for the camp will be as follows:

Evergreen Community Center from 1-3 p.m.
July 11, 18, 25
August 1, 8, 15
Kinnebrook Community Center from 1-3 p.m.
July 9, 16, 23, 30
August 6, 13
The camp is free and students who attend will receive a copy of the book being read that day.  If you have any questions regarding our summer camps, or would like to enroll, please contact Ms. Killins at TKillins@k12mcsd.net

We look forward to continuing the work of preparing our students to excel academically and socially.
