May is Better Hearing and Speech Month (BHSM); a month to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role Speech-Language Pathologist play in helping students succeed. Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School Speech Pathologists Julia Zanger and Ashley Martin spent the month leading staff members through engaging activities to share important information, and inviting students to create a poster highlighting speech therapy. To close out BHSM, Ms. Zanger and Ms. Martin treated staff members to a breakfast in a room decorated by all the students’ posters. Staff were invited to vote on the winning poster for each grade level.
