Hello Cooke Families:
Thanks to the families who participated in the fundraising aspect part of our Jog-a-thon, we raised $3, 300.00 for our new outdoor learning spaces! Along with the $10,000 Sullivan 180 Empowering a Healthier Generation School Competition Grant we were awarded this spring, we are ready to start building our new spaces this summer, but we need your help!
The Cooke Wellness Committee held an informational session on July 15 to explain more about the project. The presentation for this session is available online.

Can you help? We need volunteers and donations!
- Do you have carpenter skills or love to build things? We will be using pallets to create a playhouse, a music wall, mud kitchens, and other play spaces.
- Are you a yard sale fan? We are looking for old muffin tins, pots and pans, cookie sheets, tea kettles, colanders, etc. to be used in our mud kitchens and on our music wall.
- Do you know someone who is in the tree cutting business? We need 24 stumps (preferred hard wood) to be used as seats for one of our classroom areas. Also, wooden slices or “cookies” and wood chips are needed to create pathways.
- Are you artistic but don’t have the time to come to a work session? We need some items to enhance our spaces like rocks painted to look like food items, flowerpot mushrooms stools, or rocks painted to resemble turtles or caterpillars.
- We will also need someone to coordinate refreshments for the work sessions volunteers and people or businesses willing to donate water and snacks.
We plan to create a Facebook page to help manage and share information about the project. Our goal is to have the main scope of the project completed by the end of September with most of the labor being done over the summer.
We are excited to create these new inviting and magical spaces for our students!!! Having the community involved will make it more special to our students and staff. Please attend the Zoom meeting on July 15th to find out how you can help. Spread the word!!
