A message from Fearless!:
9-12th grade students, caregivers, and teachers are invited to attend our Virtual “Love Shouldn’t Hurt” Youth Summit on Saturday, April 9th, 2022, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Love Shouldn’t Hurt is a transformative experience designed for youth and adult ally participants to gain knowledge and skills necessary to ending intimate partner violence in our communities.
What we know is that:
• 1 in 3 adolescents in the U.S. will experience abuse from a dating partner before they turn 18.
• Girls and young women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence– almost triple the national average.
• 80% of guidance counselors say they feel unprepared to address incidents of abuse at their school.
During Love Shouldn’t Hurt, students, teachers, and caregivers will have the opportunity to participate in various workshops designed around the dynamics of intimate partner violence. Additionally, participants will be challenged to strategize ways to bring their knowledge and skillsets back to their school and community to create a culture free from violence and oppression.
This year looks different for all of us. Fearless! understands the challenges of remote learning and the limitations that accompany it. Therefore, we will host our Teen Summit on a Saturday to allow more students, caregivers, and faculty to participate. The deadline for registration is Friday, April 1st, and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
