About our food services team

a young girl is eating foodOur food services team helps keep our students nourished and ready to learn. Our district provides free breakfast and lunch for all students, regardless of income, through the Community Eligibility Program, so our food services team literally impacts each one of our kids. Workers prepare and serve food, and keep the kitchen clean and up to code.

Applicants who are friendly, detail-oriented, dependable and enjoy working with children are encouraged to apply.

    What we offer

    • Excellent health benefits
    • Option to join the New York State Retirement System
    • Generous vacation and time off
    • Work schedule follows the school’s schedule (holidays and breaks off, departure time is before dismissal)
    • Employee Assistance Program, including wellness, coaching, counseling, legal assistance, financial planning resources and more

Not looking for a commitment? Just want to pick up an extra shift here and there? Apply to be a substitute food service worker!

Choose your own schedule as a substitute! Substitute workers enjoy the flexibility to choose their own schedule and may work as little or as much as they choose (based upon available shifts). Their schedule follows the schedule of the school district, making it a great choice for parents of MCSD students, retirees or anyone who is looking for a rewarding and flexible job.

The Monticello School District maintains a master list of substitute teachers, teaching assistants, teacher aides, monitors, typists, registered nurses and food service workers. This list is used by each of the schools to contact substitutes when a regular employee is absent. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through the district’s job application platform.

*Exact benefits vary by position – substitute positions do not receive health benefits or paid time off. Please contact the Human Resources Department for more information.
