Bus drivers and monitors transport our most precious cargo – our children. In these roles, you’ll be responsible for transporting students to and from school, field trips and athletic games, and creating a safe environment.
These are great roles for applicants who have the desire to work with children, are personable, dependable, calm under pressure and value safety.
Our bus drivers and transportation staff have a new state-of-the-art transportation center that opened in 2022. The building features ample parking, generous amounts of storage, a clean and large break room, a bus wash, three large bays and much more. If you join our team, you’ll be proud to call our transportation center your home base.

Choose your own schedule as a substitute! Substitute workers enjoy the flexibility to choose their own schedule and may work as little or as much as they choose (based upon available shifts). Their schedule follows the schedule of the school district, making it a great choice for parents of MCSD students, retirees or anyone who is looking for a rewarding and flexible job.
The Monticello School District maintains a master list of substitute teachers, teaching assistants, teacher aides, monitors, typists, registered nurses and food service workers. This list is used by each of the schools to contact substitutes when a regular employee is absent. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through the district’s job application platform.
*Exact benefits vary by position – substitute positions do not receive health benefits or paid time off. Please contact the Human Resources Department for more information.
