Cooke Elementary students help local furry friends in need

It was challenge accepted at George L. Cooke Elementary School as students were given a special task during one of their last spirit weeks. Each student was asked to bring in a $0.25 donation that would benefit animals at the Sullivan County SPCA Shelter in Rock Hill, NY.

With compassionate hearts and a shared love of animals, the Cooke community came together to raise a total of $260. The funds were delivered in-person by students and staff to the local SPCA after a special invitation from the shelter’s manager, May. Second graders Camden VanderMeulen and Mia Bloom, first grader Leela Kalladeen, and kindergartener Keshav Kalladeen also had the opportunity to meet some of the shelter’s dogs. The students met Luther, Demi and Caleb, seeing firsthand who their donations would be helping.
