A huge congratulations to Belle Zhou and Julia Wysokinska for their outstanding performances this past weekend in the NYSSMA All-State Ensembles in Rochester!
Belle Zhou was selected as a violinist in the All State Symphony Orchestra, while Julia Wysokinska was selected as an Alto II in the All-State Mixed Chorus. The experience gave both performers the chance to work with some of the top musicians in NY State throughout a weekend-long rehearsal which culminated in a final concert.
When asked about her experience, Belle commented “Participating in the NYSSMA All-State Symphony Orchestra was an incredible experience. I am so honored to have been chosen to play in the first violin section. Though we rigorously rehearsed for five to eight hours a day, I had a lot of fun! It was wonderful to be able to take part in this opportunity. I met a lot of great young musicians as well as our amazing conductor, Helen Cha-Pyo. I am beyond grateful for this experience of a lifetime and can’t wait to see them again in future orchestra gigs!”
These prestigious honors were due in part to their phenomenal performances at last year’s NYSSMA Solo Festival, where Belle and Julia scored 100 and 99 respectively on their prepared solo auditions. Thousands of music students across NY State audition for these ensembles, and it is a true honor to be selected. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments, congratulations again to Belle and Julia!
