Effective immediately, normal operations will resume at Monticello High School and Robert J. Kaiser Middle School, and the lockouts in these schools are lifted. The lockout at Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School was lifted as of last night.
We have continued discussions with local law enforcement regarding the initial cause of the October 28 lockouts. An adult (not a student) has been arrested regarding threats made towards specific Monticello students. Per law enforcement, there remains no threat against the District from this incident.
We have no updates regarding the social media posting made last night. Federal, state and local law enforcement continue to investigate it; the posting does not, however, appear to be credible. In discussing it with law enforcement, we believe it reflects speculation and hearsay most likely spread by students in the wake of yesterday’s lockouts.
If any students, staff or community members have information about the origins of the post, they should contact their school’s administration or law enforcement immediately.
We will continue enhanced security measures for the remainder of this week and discuss any growth opportunities in our school safety committees.
We appreciate the work of our staff and law enforcement partners who are working diligently to ensure safe and secure learning environments for our students.
