Dear Monticello CSD Community Member,
On March 2, we were made aware of regional school districts reporting on “non-specific” threats rumored to be made against New York schools.
After conferring with local law enforcement, we have found no current or credible threats against any Monticello Central School District school. Local law enforcement has also shared that there are “no immediate concerns for any school district in Sullivan County.”
While these recent reports of school violence were not credible, we remain vigilant in our daily efforts to keep our schools safe for students and staff. We continue to follow our district’s safety plan and security procedures, developed in collaboration with our local law enforcement agencies.
We take any threats to school safety seriously and will use every resource available to mitigate any potential threat. We appreciate the efforts of our staff and partners in law enforcement who work hard to keep our schools safe. We remind everyone to report threats or acts of violence to law enforcement or school administration if they are suspected to happen on school grounds.
Stay well.
With Monti Pride,
Matthew T. Evans, Ed. D
