Dear MCSD Families,
Thank you for being our most powerful partners as we work together to educate the students in our district.
The district’s improvement plans challenge us to create a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) that infuses social emotional learning into academic, attendance, and behavioral outcomes. To that end, we are partnering with Panorama, an educational data platform to assist in identifying how we can best serve our students’ needs. Just as NWEA and the Reading Inventory are used as universal screeners to evaluate students’ academic proficiency, enabling us to provide appropriate supports, Panorama will be used as the social emotional learning universal screener.
We will be asking students in grades 3-12 to reflect on their relationships, social awareness, self-management, and emotion regulation. The results will be kept confidential, and will in no way impact academic or disciplinary records.
These surveys will take approximately 15 minutes to complete, and students may skip any question they do not feel able to answer.
Here are some examples of questions that will be asked:
Grades 3-5
Grades 6-12
In addition, kindergarten, first, and second grade teachers will be completing the surveys based on their perceptions of individual student behavior. Here are the questions that will be asked:
K-2
We are excited to launch this survey, as we believe the results will provide invaluable insights into student experiences, and enable the district to improve our existing social-emotional learning activities.
Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the survey by 3/18/22:
If you have any questions about the survey, please don’t hesitate to contact me at dtaylor@k12mcsd.net.
Sincerely,
Dana Taylor
