Dear Monticello Community:
On Thursday, Sept. 2, the New York State Department of Health issued COVID-19 testing requirements for all K-12 public schools. According to these new orders, all employees of K-12 public schools must be tested weekly for COVID-19, unless they provide proof of valid vaccination. In addition, schools must provide optional weekly COVID-19 testing for students, with parental consent. For more information about these updates, please visit the Department of Health’s website.
The district is presently working in collaboration with Sullivan County BOCES, Sullivan County Public Health and other agencies to organize the details of how the district will carry out these new guidelines. We will update our community with this information as soon as it becomes available through our usual communication channels.
I do want to assure our community that the district’s leadership team has been working fervently throughout the summer months to plan a safe return to full, in-person instruction. We do not expect the late issuance of these guidelines to impact our start date, and we look forward to welcoming back students, as planned, on Wednesday, Sept. 8.
