The Monticello Board of Education seeks two community members to join its District Audit Committee for a three-year term. The volunteer position is open to any district resident with two years of financial experience who has not worked, or provided services for, the district during the past two years. Individuals who are partners in, controlling owners or executives of, for-profit businesses to which the district made, or from which the district received significant payment ($100,000) in any of the past five years are also ineligible to serve in this position.
The Audit Committee meets a minimum of four times each year to provide the Board with independent oversight of the district’s internal and external audit functions. These duties include:
- Oversight of the Request for Proposal process (RFP) that is used to solicit quotations for the district’s annual external audit.
- Reviewing the scope, plan and coordination of the external audit.
- Reviewing any potential corrective action plans based upon audit findings
- Acting as a communications link between the Board of Education and the external and/or internal auditors.
