Dear Monticello CSD Community Member,
On January 9, the district was notified that a staff member at Robert J. Kaiser (RJK) Middle School tested positive for COVID-19. The staff member had been in RJK MS on January 7 and 8, and developed symptoms on the afternoon of January 8. We have tentatively identified 20 students and nine (9) staff members as direct contacts and will be notifying Sullivan County Public Health Services of the incident. These contacts will be notified by New York State Department of Health and will most likely be quarantined.
Due to this loss in staffing, RJK Middle School will be on remote instruction from January 11 through January 15. All RJK students and staff are expected to work remotely on those days. Students will tentatively return for in-person instruction on January 19. Staff may return—if necessary—on January 11.
All other Monticello CSD schools will remain open.
If you or your child are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please contact your health care provider. For more information on contact tracing and illness management, please review the New York State Department of Health’s Pre-K to Grade 12 COVID-19 Toolkit.
We hope that this staff member recovers to full health, and that you and the affiliated contacts remain healthy. Stay well.
With Monti Pride,
Matthew T. Evans, Ed. D. Superintendent of Schools
