A message from Superintendent of Schools, Matthew Evans:
Dear Monticello CSD Community Member,
We were informed yesterday, December 21, that a student at Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School became ill and tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday. The last time this student was in school was before Thanksgiving.
This student has siblings who also attend KLR, and were in school on Friday, December 18. These students also rode our buses to and from school on Friday. One of these siblings became ill on Saturday. While the student has yet to be tested for COVID-19, we have been advised by Sullivan County Public Health Services to presume the student to be COVID-19 positive.
Our KLR staff has acted promptly, and developed a contact list for the sibling who attended school on Friday. This contact list includes 16 students and nine (9) staff members, and has been given to Sullivan County Public Health Services for tracing.
If you or your child are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please contact your health care provider. For more information on contact tracing and illness management, please review the New York State Department of Health’s Pre-K to Grade 12 COVID-19 Toolkit.
We hope that this student, the affiliated contacts, and all of you remain healthy during this special time of year.
Stay well.
Sincerely yours,
Matthew T. Evans, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
