Congratulations to our soccer teams

 The Monticello boys' soccer team won the championship at the 5th annual Robert VanEtten Jr. Memorial Soccer Tournament this past weekend.

The host Monticello teams both fared well, with the girls' team placing second.

The boys took the title by defeating Sullivan West 5-0 and Fallsburg 2-1 in the championship game.

In the boys' 5-0 victory, Liam Evans had a hat trick with three goals, Roberto Velasquez and Damyan Granados each scored one. Goalie Maciej Bonar had seven saves.

In the championship game against Fallsburg, Daniel Grande and Liam Evans each scored and goalie Maciej Bonar recorded 10 saves.

Monticello girls placed second after defeating Fallsburg 1-0 but falling in the championship game to Sullivan West by a score of 2-0.
Kelly Swensen had the lone goal in the Fallsburg game, assisted by Claudia Moreno Marcos. Goalie Taylor Fein recorded three saves.

VanEtten was a scholar-athlete at Monticello, had a particular love for soccer, and spent many hours coaching the youth of the community.
