MTA and Tinsel Trot organizational committee extends its thanks to Monticello community

Dec. 14, 2016

A message from Sheryl Manz on behalf of the Tinsel Trot organizational committee:

We are thrilled to report that the Second Annual Tinsel Trot and Inaugural Reindeer Dash were enormous successes! Despite the cold temperatures, the race spread warmth and good cheer throughout the land (or at least throughout Sullivan County.)

The races would not have taken place without the amazing and dedicated Tinsel Trot Committee. We would like to extend our thanks to the committee members for their time, patience and their tireless efforts.

Collections were held in each of or school buildings and through our community. Our wonderful sponsors deserve our thanks for their monetary and in-kind donations.

We encourage our staff to please patronize the businesses whose names appear on the back of our race shirts, as well as Monticello Greenhouse, DeFilippis Bakery, Johnson and Conroy Agency and Shoprite (whose donations came in after the shirts went to print.) The race would not have been possible without the support of many, but especially Ginny and Ed Gallet who allowed us to have registration inside Dutch’s on a VERY chilly morning, provided a post-race buffet, and donated the third place prizes.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to our AWESOME volunteers and our INCREDIBLE runners and walkers who braved the cold with smiles on their faces.

We will be able to make significant donations to both the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless and The MTA Scholarship Fund. We are already turning our thoughts to next year’s race in the hopes of making it even bigger and better.

Once again, thank you! Regardless of how you participated, your contributions helped make the race a wonderful “feel good” event. May the blessings of the holiday season be with you all and may 2017 be filled with joy, health and happiness for you and yours.
