Details about individual programs
Monticello Central School District has been increasing the computer
technology available to its staff and students. A $3.4 million bond issue
enabled the district to integrate technology into the classroom. We have
supported this investment by training teachers in the use of computer
technology as an instructional tool. We have made use of Superintendent’s
Conference Days, summer in-service, and after school programs.
Consultants, BOCES trainers, and district personnel have been used to
provide staff with instruction in this area.
We are currently using SuccessMaker software for all students at
Rutherford, Chase, and Duggan Schools. This software helps students build
English language arts and math skills. We will be implementing its use at
the Cooke School in the fall of 2003.
All libraries have computer with internet connection for research.
All classrooms will have at least one computer for internet use; our
goal is three per classroom. E-mail for all staff members has been
established.
The High School and Middle School have computer labs. We have
implemented the use of graphing calculator and geometry sketch pads in
math classes at the High School. This includes a distance learning lab,
where students can take classes offered at other schools through the means
of video conferencing equipment.
We offered Progressive Learning (an online tutorial program) as a
supplemental education service at the Middle School in the 2002-03 school
year.
