The CDEP plan, among others, works hard at integrating children with
disabilities into the schools. The Monticello School District hopes to do
this through the following programs:
- Staff training: to work as co-teachers in an inclusive classroom,
providing training for staff who will be working with students
returning to the district from a BOCES setting, and training in
differentiated instruction.
- Prevention programs: how to help students before it's too late
- Improved achievement: Special education teachers and regular
education teachers have received training to support this goal in
differentiated instruction, content area, and curriculum alignment.
This includes the Wilson Reading Program.
- Improved Environment: Teachers have received training in behavior
management techniques, analysis of behavior in order to develop
behavior support plans, and creating multi-cultural, nonbiased
classrooms.
