In addition to in-school support programs, many programs are currently in place after school to help students with their homework. In fact, every school offers some kind of after-school help. Late buses are provided to bring home the students who stay after school. 

Cooke School

  • Offers an after-school tutorial program during the week. 
  • 54 first and second grade students received 8 weeks of tutoring last year, and 53 completed the program.  28 first graders improved their reading level by 1-4 book levels; 23 second graders improved their reading level by 1-2 book levels.  

Rutherford School 

  • Offers after-school and in-school tutoring during the week.
  • Offers the Monticello Enrichment Program
  • Offered 111 Grade 4 and 13 Grade 3 students received 22 one hour tutoring sessions in English Language Arts, and 96 Grade 4 students received 13 one hour tutoring sessions in math last year. 

Chase School

  • Offers after-school tutoring during the week.
  • 26 students received 18 sessions of tutoring last year in English Language Arts, and 27 students received 16 sessions of Math tutoring. 

Duggan School

  • Offers after-school tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30. 
  • 27 students in Grades 3 and 4 received tutoring last year in English Language Arts, and 18 Grades 3-4 students received tutoring in Math for 12 weeks. 

Middle School

  • The middle school offers two programs for extra help in studies: tutoring programs, which are available on a day-to-day basis, and the Skills Recovery Program. 
  • Help is available in Math, English Language Arts, French, Science, Social Studies, and English as a Second Language.
  • The Library and Computer Room are available every day for students to use after-school. 
  • During 2002-03, more than four thousand students attended the after-school programs (an individual student may have attended multiple times.)

High School

  • Offers after-school tutoring after school during the week in a wide variety of subjects.
  • Last year tutorial programs were offered in English, Social Studies, Science, Math, Foreign Language, ESL, Business, Art, and Physical Education. Approximately 1,745 students attended sessions (an individual student may have attended multiple times.)
