Details about individual programs

Over sixty-five elementary staff members have been trained in this 24 hour workshop which helps educators develop a classroom climate and culture in which students will become more responsible for their behavior and for improving social interactions with peers and adults.

The following topics were covered:

  • How to conduct morning meetings with activities that will promote development of a sense of community
  • Activities for the development of social skills dealing with anger, put-downs, making friends, working in groups, and problem solving
  • Modeling and role playing scenarios for being a good listener, dealing with power struggles, and sharing
  • How to use the first three to six weeks of school to communicate and practice rules, work habits, consequences, and social skills.
